Wireless Video SecurityView Our Selection Of Wireless Video Security Wireless video security is a fairly recent development in video security systems. Up until the last few years, video security was completely connected by wires, transmitting all information this way. Wireless video security offers much more flexibility because camera systems can be moved or reconfigured easier. Wireless video security makes installation easier too because there are less wires to organize. Some systems still have some wires because the cameras don't run on batteries, but on the whole the wireless video security systems are simpler. The wireless video security system uses radio frequency transmissions to send video information to a receiver. Many can also gather audio with the video. The majority of cameras operate within a 2-6 GHz frequency range and can transmit over several hundred feet. Some high-end models can have their signals boosted so that they can transmit over several miles. In most cases, though, the receiver is usually located in the same building as the cameras. Wireless video security can incorporate black and white or color cameras as well as ones equipped with night vision. The receivers can translate the transmission back to analog video signals for a TV monitor, or it can send the digital information to a computer or storage device, such as a DVR. These wireless video security transmitters can be configured to avoid interference from other wireless signals, which can become an increasing problem with the growth of wireless technology.
